“Music review of Mausam”
The music of the film is composed by Pritam while the lyrics are penned by Irshad Kamil.
1)Ik tu hi tu hi By hans raj hans: One of the best song of the album, it is quite soothing experience to listen hans raj hans after such a long time, it’s a reminder that no matter who you are sufi music will always give you eternal pleasure, with lines such as “jab jab chaha tune raj ke rulaya, jab jab chaha tune khul ke ke hasaya, jab jab chaha tune khud mai milaya ” .
2)poore se zara sa kam hai BY ustad rashid khan: classical at its best or should I say semi classical at its best, sang by ustad rashid khan, written beautiful by irshad kamil, simple yet example of beautiful poetry, who says classical songs are not for the masses, ustad rashid khan has predicted people wrong in past with song like aaoge jab tum sajana and he has done it again, you can actually feel the pain and agony of male protagonist, brilliant work by ustad rashid khan I did not expect this from pritam, hats of to pritam.
3)aag lage us aag ko By karsan das sagthia: A perfect example of beautiful folk song, tuned in garba this beautiful song gives you the feeling of separation and union at the same time and the feeling of dancing in navratri, Voice of Karsan is perfect for folk songs which he has proved on many occasions for example in hum dil de chuke sanam.
4) Rabba Main Toh Mar Gaya Oye (I) By Shahid Mallya:This song will take you to the period of innocent love, it will remind you of the time when you first fell in love, that feeling of love at first site is infused in this song so brilliantly that you would like to listen it again and again, shahid mallya is the future of hindi music (Same song has been sung by rahat fateh ali khan in the album, beats and lyrics are same but my personal opinion is that shahid mallya version is better because his voice adds freshness to the song)
5)Sajh dhaj ke By Mika Singh:Punjabi songs always attract your ear because of their down to earth feeling and this song is no exception, Mika singh’s voice suits best for such type of songs, it give you the feeling that a rugged jat from panjab is singing it, with continuous Patiala dhol rhythm in background this song will rule in the weddings in future, song also gives you the message that never forget your roots.
6)Mallo Malli By Lehmber Hussainpuri and Hard Kaur: When shahid is in the movie you are bound to have a dance number in the movie, this one is a party number with fast beats and a reminder that hip hop music is fast catching up in Indian film music, sung nicely by Lehmber Hussainpuri and hard kaur( same song is sang by Tochi raina and song is almost the same).
